Surprising Uses for Aesthethics

Surprising Uses for Aesthethics

Cosmetic injectables are primarily known for their ability to target wrinkles and fine lines, but did you know they can address a variety of other concerns as well? From excessive sweating to jaw clenching, these treatments offer surprising solutions to common problems.

Today we will explain some of the treatments you may not have heard of.

Excessive Sweating

Hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating, can be a frustrating condition that can occur year-round, even when you are not hot or working out.

However, by administering a product that blocks the signals initiating sweat production, symptoms can be reduced. This treatment specifically targets the sweat glands, which can reduce excessive perspiration, particularly in areas such as the underarms, palms, and soles of the feet, for 6-12 months.

Teeth Grinding and Jaw Clenching

Bruxism, or the grinding or clenching of teeth, can lead to discomfort, headaches and even a range of dental problems. Cosmetic injectables can help alleviate bruxism by relaxing the muscles responsible for jaw movement.

By administering injections into the masseter muscles, which are involved in chewing, we can reduce the intensity of jaw clenching and grinding, relieving associated symptoms such as jaw pain and tension headaches.

It can also reduce muscle hypertrophy, which can slim the face for those who have aesthetic concerns due to constant clenching.

Hay Fever Symptoms

For individuals who suffer from allergic rhinitis, commonly known as hay fever, cosmetic injectables can offer unexpected relief.

By strategically targeting specific nasal muscles, this treatment can help reduce the severity of hay fever symptoms such as nasal congestion, sneezing, and runny nose. This approach targets the muscles that control nasal airflow, providing relief from seasonal allergies without the need for daily hayfever medications.

The product is usually administered via a spray, negating the need for an injection.

Tension of the Trapezius Muscle

The trapezius muscle, located in the upper back and neck, can become tense and bulky due to factors such as poor posture, stress, repetitive movements and exercise. This can lead to discomfort and stiffness in the neck and shoulders.

Cosmetic injectables, when administered into the trapezius muscle, can help relax the muscle and reduce its strength and size as well as relieve tension and improve overall comfort.

While these alternative uses for cosmetic injectables may come as a surprise, it's important to remember that not all concerns are suitable for treatment with injectables.

In certain cases, clearance from a GP or dentist may be required to ensure there are no underlying medical issues before treatment. Our team will also conduct a comprehensive consultation and safety screening to assess suitability.

If you’d like to discuss these treatments in more detail, please book a consultation online now or reach out to our team.

•Please note, all medical cosmetic procedures carry risks and must be discussed in a consultation prior.
